Job Description

The CAD Designer’s primary objective is to develop high-quality suspension designs, components, assemblies, and detail drawings for vehicle programs within the Physical Architecture & Concepts organization. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and effective collaboration with engineering, manufacturing, and program teams.

The Designer executes assigned suspension design work independently and contributes to product development from concept through release, ensuring designs meet engineering intent, quality standards, and timing requirements.

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop suspension components, assemblies, and detailed drawings using CAD software based on models, sketches, specifications, or engineering direction.
  • Deliver complete suspension design solutions, including package, surface development, and structural considerations.
  • Maintain and manage design data within Product Data Management (PDM) systems.
  • Release components and assemblies at key milestones using established processes and systems.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and cross-functional teams to ensure design feasibility and integration.
  • Receive and execute work assignments through the design request/work order system.
  • Document design studies and communicate technical information effectively throughout the design lifecycle.
  • Ensure adherence to design standards, engineering requirements, and organizational processes.
  • Continuously maintain knowledge of tools, systems, and best practices relevant to assigned discipline.
